Lush Lacquer Birthday Cake = Glitterbomb!

Sose, I was wandering the isles of the cosmetics section of Kmart the other day and I was wondering if there was anything new out there in the nail care area. The answer was, not that day...but, new to me is Nailene Artificial Nail and Polish remover. I've decided this is my answer to how to get Glitter nail polish off for those who are born impatient, which would be moi. As a general rule I use lots of polish remover on makeup pads and just scrub rather hard but ineffectually for a bit until the polish comes off like an hour later (okay so maybe 10-15 mins) I told you..impatient. If I was a little bit less impatient I would do the glitter foil soak off method..but I'm not. Nailene Artificial Nail and Polish remover is what it says it is..if for getting polish off artificial nails or even removing them completely. Here's what it looks like:

Okay, you can see there is some liquid in around the little rubber fingers in the middle. You put you finger in the middle and soak it for a bit, rub your nail against the fingers for a bit and you'd be amazed how quickly glitter polish comes off! The instructions say you should soak for 1-2 mins....this is for artificial nails-removing polish or even the taking the actual nail off...so I didn't...  I soaked for 10 seconds, rubbed for 10 seconds and then pulled my finger out and wiped off the big glitter particles. Rinsed and repeated if not all the glitter was off. I used this method to remove Lush Lacquer Birthday Cake today..as you can see from the top pic, its chock-a-block glitter polish. Can I say, this was SUPER frikken quick for me as opposed to the polish remover/makeup pad option. I think my entire nails were clean and ready to go in 2-3 mins max!

Now for the nitty gritty..how much does it cost? I paid $13.99 at Kmart. I did see this at Priceline and Target as well which was around the same price. Is it worth it? Heck yes! I used a whole 1 makeup remover pad as opposed to the 5+ I usually use and it was sooooo quick in comparison. You could probably use an orange stick to help scrape the  glitter gently off instead. This is apparently good for shellac removal as well if you know anyone who shellacs (Profession strength remover it states on the front). I'm not sure how long this Nailene pot will last but I am sure I can refill it with acetone to do a modified foil acetone soak...just in a pot :)

Do you have any other foolproof methods for removing glitter, that is not time consuming?

Lush Lacquer Birthday Cake!

No, it's not my birthday..but who doesn't like cake?? I grabbed this one out of my Helmer last night as I hadn't tried it and I felt like some subtle glitter..kind of like my own Glitter Me Up friday, LOL. Lush Lacquer was one of the first "indie" polishes that I bought from Etsy when I forayed out into uncharted territories of handmade polish in the nail polish world. They have an amazing range of colors and a mixture of glitter top coats and pigment and glitter mixes. At the moment I am leaning towards the pigment and glitter combo as I like the look you get with layering the glitters rather than just a top coat. Birthday Cake is a milky white base with various bar and round glitters. It has shimmer and sparkle that is blingy but the formula is on the thick side which I thinned for better application.
For this mani I used CND Sticky base coat, 2 coats of Lush Lacquer Birthday Cake and a thick Seche Vite top coat.

Birthday Cake at first glance looks a little bit like a hot mess in a bottle..bar glitters going everywhere with holo hexs and round glitter galore. On the nail this translates to a lovely glittery complex polish that is not overwhelming, just very pretty and interesting. This is a polish that needs a top coat to be smooth..and probably 2 coats at that. I would recommend a thinner otherwise the polish is gloopy straight out of the bottle..this is an awesome polish, the glitters catch the eye in different lights but the white base toning down what could be an obnoxious polish.

Hope you liked some Birthday Cake..I feel the need to stamp this weekend, so will see what happens :)
