China Glaze Infra Red and stamping fail!

Hello, hello! This post is being brought to you by me who is existing in struggletown. Seriously just putting one foot in front of the other for the next couple of days as I have a weeks worth of annual leave in 2 days (18 hours..but who's counting??). I am tired. I was tired in March actually..but this was the first week of leave I could get. I am tired of work suffocating me and my creativity by the no nail polish policy and the enforcement of that. I really just don't look forward to going to work. I'm depressed by the fact I have to work a 10 hour day and then come home an am too tired to play with my polish only to have to take it off before work the next day. IT SUUUUUUCKS. There are some good things coming up...a friends wedding *squee* and dinner at a fancy restaurant with friends, the dentist (okay, not that fun) and some more holiday planning for the Grand American trip in September! I'll hold on to the positive things to get me through :)

Today I have for you China Glaze Infra Red from the Hologlam collection! I adore this polish! It's so vampy hot whilst being holo awesome. I tried to use it as a base for my ANM floral nails last week but that turned out to be mani fail as I'll show you laters.

Full sun brings out the hot pink shimmer! It's hard to believe it's the same polish.

And now for the mani fail..
This is Infra Red stamped with Astro Hot. It's okay, but not awesome.

So anyways. I loved Infra Red, it was mostly red with the hot pink holo in it and was awesome to look at in the sunlight :) Application was great and only needed 2 coats and the holo wasn't dulled with the Seche Vite top coat. I'll work on some more upbeat posts..especially when I have free reign to wear awesome polish with out getting told off! :)

Barielle Falling Star and Dollish Penny, Penny, Penny Stamped

It's been a while since I've posted..so hi! How's it going? Winter seems to have settle into Australian weather..rather than Autumn, and that's a bit sad, it's making hard to catch daylight and I don't love the lightbox :( Today is ANZAC day and a public holiday for most of us, and I am lucky enough to have the day off considering I am in the medical profession where there is no rest for the wicked :)  I impulse bought Barielle Falling Star when I was ordering some face products from Vitacost in the US and my package arrived a couple of days ago and couldn't wait to put it on today! I love blue polish and it's such a gorgeous combo of blue and copper, I luffs it! I already had on an "work appropriate" mani with Dollish Penny, Penny, Penny on my ring finger so I combined the two polishes and stamped. Here is the result!

Fully in love with how this looks :)

I love how this turned out and very happy I have Barielle Falling Star in my collection. It's a dusky blue in the full sun but a little darker in the shade. The copper glitter is something that is so sparkly in the sun but can be overlooked in the shade. Dollish Penny Penny Penny is such a cute polish. Again, love copper hexes and glitters and it's in a slightly nude/peachy base and not a white base which gives a very flattering look and not as stark contrast.
Do you like the color combo or does it not work for you?

OPI Catch Me In Your Net

Evening boys and girls..hmm, I wonder if boys actually stumble across nail polish blogs and think wtf?? Hehe. I sometimes wish my husband showed more interest in my hobby..would kinda feel like sharing a bit more of something that is important in my life. Anyways, enough musing. Today I have a polish I picked up in a blog sale, and yes, I know there are dupes but I just couldn't help myself. I had to have OPI Catch Me in Your Net. This is a pic I took just before I filed my nails down. The best thing about this pic is that I figured out how to do a curved watermark!! When I say I, I mean I made my husband learn then teach me..I just couldn't quite get the last few steps..doh! See how I went below.

Loving the blue flakie look!

Blue and Green all at once!

So blue!
Definitely can't regret purchasing this polish, I have heard rumors that this polish does stain, so I was careful to put a base plus a buffer layer of polish so it didn't. It's a lovely blue green foil and opaque in 2 coats, how can you go wrong. OPI Catch Me In Your Net is from the 2010 Summer Flutter collection. I wonder if I can get my hands on Flower-to-Flower from the same collection :)
Hope your weekend is shaping up to be fun or relaxing, whichever way you want to enjoy it..

China Glaze Hologlam Get Outta My Space

Hey guys! Here's a quickie for tonight. I received all the China Glaze Hologlam polishes last week and just can't keep them off my nails. Here is a straight out swatch for you tonight to show you just how holo they are. I am a sucker for holo polishes, but I am also a sucker for an awesomely pigmented polish and these have some great coloring. Get Outta My Space is a Lilac purple that heads towards Lavender in some lights and a darker Lilac in other.  There really isn't heaps of rainbows to be found indoors with these, but just little daylight and they come out to play!

Holo up close and personal :)

Argh! I love this :) This was 2 coats of Get Outta My Space over Nfu-Oh Aqua base and no top coat. The formula was easy to work with and dried quickly but now I am having trouble deciding what nail art to do over the top of this. I've also tried a new camera today and am a bit iffy about if it's better than my older one..that's it from me..
Hope you're having a great day!

Aussie Nails Monday- Polka Dots

Hello! It's Monday! It's Aussie Nails Monday! What does that mean? It means Polka dots :) Today for our challenge is Polka dots, and whilst I love dotting like the next person..I wanted to try a design that I incorporated polka dots rather than just dots all over. So I searched from some inspiration and untried polish and came up with this! No particular reason for the color combo but I loveeeeeee it. There are a few too many pics as I was trying to capture KB Shimmer Cocoa Nut's complexity.

I am really happy with how this turned out! I love the color combo, with the Ulta3 Pink Hibiscus picking up with pink in the KB Shimmer basecoat nicely :) I like the mixture of different circles and could see this pattern as a purse or cushion cover. It's feeling a bit wintery in Melbourne now..so the darker colors are coming out to play now. When I get a nice sunny day I will dash out and slap on a holo :)

Austism Awareness China Glaze Hologlam with Flocking.

Evening :) I promised the Blog Award post, but I feel the need to post my Autism Awareness mani post..I've been meaning to do my blue nails ALL week.. and I have wearing this for the last few days and just loving it :) My inspiration for this look was the delivery of my China Glaze Hologlam collection, numbers and the cookie monster! My mani included blue polish, for austism awareness..I wanted to included numbers to represent how super intelligent these individuals can be and flocking powder because it's awesome! I've had to drag out the light box as the daylight is getting shorter and today there was a distinct lack of sunshine to make the holos come out and play nicely.

Half assed holo with flash on. Trust me the holo is a bit stronger!
So, first of all the Hologlam formula is great and there was no issue with just 2 coats. I also stamped quite well with Strap on Your Moonboots which was great :) This was my first attempt at flocking and I used a thickish coat of China Glaze Want My Bawdy over my accent ring finger and immediately used tweezers to place flocking powder all over my finger and press down quite hard to embed it into the polish. Believe it or not, I took these pictures a day after I applied the flocking powder and I had done the dishes TWICE with no gloves on getting the flock all wet. It dried awesomely and didn't come off! I was quite surprised.

Now, to add to the awesomeness..don't forget there is a Paint It Blue polish auction organized by the lovely Tara of Osiris and Loki Paint Their Nails. This is some gorgeous blue polishes that will be up for auction, created by many talented individuals who care enough to raise money for a great cause! You can see these wonderful polishes at Paint It Blue and share around the badge on your blog. There are two so far that I love, love love!

Sinful Colors Winterberry Stamped

Sorry for the lack of posting..I will try and make it up with a few more post to catch up, and I have some nomination for  a best blogger award! Thank you so much for the girls nominating me:) I will make that my very next post. In the last week I have had a nail breakage, not complete nubbinization but they do look short to me after having nice long nails. This post is from just after I had Sinful Colors Winterberry on. I decided to stamp with Essie Penny Talk as I though they would go perfect together. I used my new Winstonia plates that I didn't order from the Winstonia website as at the time they didn't do international shipping, but I believe they do now. What I love about these plates is that they have reciprocal images of a design where you either get the outline of the image or the blocking around the image :)

So what do you think about this combo? I personally think it looks very elegant and it was a super quick look to achieve. There was a bit of tip wear with Sinful Colors Winterberry by the time I stamped this, but I still think it looks pretty good. You have to be very close to notice all the flaws..luckily life is not a series of close ups! LOL.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. I need to share my next Autism Awareness mani, a Northern Star polish I wore..and the Blogger Award questions..see you soon!

Aussie Nails Monday- Candy

So..Candy or otherwise known as lollies or chocolate if you are from Down Under is all that is yummy and sweet treat-y. This week Aussie Nails Monday Challenge is a mani representing Candy, and if you caught my post yesterday you might gather I have been a little time poor :( With the change in Daylight savings I am going to have to pull out my lightbox as it appears to be dark when I leave for work and when I come home! So, this is a naughty cheat post *slaps own hand*..but it does have Candy in the title of the polish and it is very like wearing colorful lollies on your fingers..today I have Jindie Candyland Remix for you :)

Macro of neon glitters..how can you not love neon hex glitter with neon microglitters??

This was super pretty and so fun to wear. It's one of those polishes that is subtle until people take a second and closer look and then its, look at meeeeee! Love it. Neon glitters are really big at the moment and you can see why, aren't they awesome? Well, enough of my lame attempt at Aussie Nails Monday this week. Make sure you check out the other participants, who probably did heaps better with much more creativity that me. LOL.
