Lilypad Lacquer Violet Blaze

Hey guys, what is it with winter that saps the energy? I think it's going to work in the dark and the cold and then coming home in the dark and the cold that gets me, bleh. Trying to get back on the healthy eating wagon which means preparing and cooking food takes up way more time than I'd like. Although on my "free" day I have been searching for a Po Boy just like Killer Po Boys in NOLA, have found a reasonable substitute here in cold ass Melbourne, but there really ain't nothing like the real thing!

So, today I have for you something I received in my What's Indie Box which is an Indie box here in Australia. This months one was a holographic special which contained all holos! Yay. Here is Lilypad Lacquer Violet Blaze from what's indie box :)

Wow, isn't that pretty! The holo is gorgeous of course, the Violet is the lovely purple pigment and the "Blaze" is actually a pink/red fleck that runs throughout the polish. Of course this is better seen in the shade..and I might have forgotten to get good shots of that without some nail art..so, here is pics of Lilypad Lacquer Violet Blaze with stamping and french tip using OPI Push and Shove and a subtle accent nail on my pinkie of Nfu Oh 51. These pics are in a light box.

You can see especially on my middle finger that there is a lovely pink fleck running through the polish. This is prominent in the shade but in full sunlight the linear holo finish stand out.
I am helping a friend move house on the weekend, so we'll see how the nails fare! Hopefully some catch up posts this weekend! Tomorrow is my Friday and I can't wait :)

Loki's Lacquer We Are Happy Little Vegemites

Hi guys! Today I have for you a brown holographic glitter polish that is super unique as it was a part of an Australia Day raffle that I won at least 2 Australia Days ago. This was made by the lovely Tara from Loki's Lacquer and celebrates all that is Australian...Vegemite! Now, Vegemite is something all Aussie kids are raised on, it's a yeast extract dark brown spread that is absolutely yummy on toast with lots of butter or in a cheese toasty (btw, only a thin spread is required or it's far too much!) and in nail polish form it looks like..this!
Loki's Lacquer We Are Happy Little Vegemites- gorgeous brown holo with red and yellow glitters.

Looks like like the jar, but prettier, yes?

So happy I managed to catch the 0.3 seconds of sunlight we had today in cold old winterey Melbourne. Some people love winter, not I..I like warmth, daylight and sunlight (for holo's of course!). Tara, the owner of Loki's Lacquer isn't currently making polish..so I love that I have a few of her special polishes :)

Savvy Mint Julep with blue and green stamping - Green/Blue for Untried May

Helloooo, I have been keeping up with The Amy's Untried Challenge but haven't been doing very well with keeping up with my blogging, so here is a bit of a mash up of Green and Blue. For green I used Savvy Mint Julep, which in my opinion is leaning more blue than green. What do you think? Anyways I really liked this color be it blue or green and poppped on top of it Happy Hands For British Eyes Only on my ring finger for an accent then stamped with Hits Hera and Color Club Blue Heaven.

Hmm, the blue and green stamping had a lot more contrast in real life. Hera is a dark green and you can see it best in the bottom pic near the cuticle of the nail. Blue Heaven is a light blue..in these pics the circles all just look holographic! For British Eyes Only has some lovely blue and green glitters in it in a blue jelly base..overall this mani looks more blue than green to me, so a slight fail, but it was still pretty to wear! Now, onto some purple polish.....

Layla Gold Idol with Lilypad Lacquer Zombee

Hi guys! Hope you are having a great day. Today I have for you Layla Gold Idol with Lilypad Lacquer Zombee in a holographic mash up mani. You might have seen the swatches of Gold Idol I posted a little bit ago, and the next step for me was to see if the mani could evolve a bit further and I wanted to see how well Lilypad Lacquer Zombee went with Gold Idol. For this look I did a gradient with all my fingers with Gold Idol and Zombee and on my middle finger I stamped with Lilypad Lacquer Zombee. The look that came out was like I had dipped my finger is fluro yellow and the stamping was subtle but lovely :) I really loved it.

 Truly lovely rainbows!

Completely love how these two polishes work together, different enough to see the gradient but they do blend nicely. The Layla Gold Idol is a strong linear holo and you can see the lovely holo in Zombee as well but it has a touch more pigment than holo. I love that Zombee stamps nicely. I can't get the Layla holo polishes to stamp, so I do love that the Lilypad ones do :) What do you think of this look? Love or hate? Let me know!

Scofflaw Wraith Pinned to the Mist and NerdLacquer Event Horizion

Hi guys! It's my birthday today..and this post was scheduled last week as I am on holidays :) This is a look I wore recently and since I love NerdLacquer and am determined to have a complete set one day. One of my recent grabby hands was Event Horizon. Event Horizon is a gorgeous dark teal jelly with silver hexs and microglitter. Now since I wanted to mix this up I used Event Horizon as an accent nail with Scofflaw Wraith Pinned to the Mist on the rest of my fingers. Scofflaw has an awesome polish with Wraith Pinned to the Mist, its an aqua shimmer polish filled with blue, violet, green, and gold sparks as well as delicate gold flakes and is stunning on it's own.  I then stamped with A-England St George with a floral pattern from Emily de Molly plate. For this manicure I used 3 coats of Scofflaw and 3 coats of Nerdlacquer

The Scofflaw Polish Wraith Pinned to the Mist is a lovely aqua polish and because it's surrounded by lots of teal/green it takes on the greeney tone. I loved how this looked and it's definitely an Autumn look. We are having a second wind of summer though so I am back to the bright colors after this! Hope you are having a great day, I am sure I am having a massage and then a lovely dinner for my birthday :)

Layla Gold Idol

Hey Guys! Here is an oldie but a goodie when it comes to sunny and holo polishes. Today I have for you Gold Idol from Layla. This is a strong linear holo polish that is meant to be gold, but to me, leans more towards yellow on the nail. This doesn't detract from how lovely it is, but if you wanted to do a skittle with gold polish, it might not match exactly. For this swatch I used 2 coats of Layla Gold Idol with no base coat and Seche top coat.

For the Layla holographic polishes, you do need to make sure you use the buffer that comes with it so your nail are nice and smooth and you can't see any ridges or that will show up in the polish. I did use Nfu Oh Aqua Base which also helps with the holographic finish and the holo was not dulled by a top coat :) There are some awesome holo polishes out there but I still have a special place in my heart for the Layla ones :) Hope you are having a great day..I am still on holidays so this is scheduled from the past for the future...ooer!

Lilypad Lacquer Sassy Citrus

Hey guys! It's been a week since I've posted. Life has happened a little bit and work has been super nuts. No, really. I've also been helping my sister with a few medical things, so time has run short or more to the point..sunlight for photos! LOL. I am going to have to figure out how to set up my lightbox properly. Haven't managed to do it right for 2 years..so maybe the 3rd year is a charm? It''s Sunday night here and there has been much washing done today..like 6 loads..sheets, towels, clothes...you name it, it has been washed. Might have a mini holiday coming up..yay!
Tonight I have for you Lilypad Lacquer Sassy Citrus. I am in an orange phase..I have China Glaze Koi Pond with Inglot 205 and Daring Digits Copperline on my toes. Flakie orange and glitter..its awesome! I am going to bling up my Sassy Citrus further tomorrow..but today I just enjoyed orange and holo..love!

This was 2 coats of Lilypad Lacquer Sassy Citrus. As always I love how pigmented these polishes are. This one has a scattered holo and is very pretty. This does lean towards the coppery orange and I really love that. The application was amazing and I purchased mine from the Lilypad Lacquer Etsy store which you need to check back from time to time to see when it's open :)

A-England Briarwood

Hey guys! Its the end of the weekend for me and I can tell the week ahead is a doozy. It's always that way for me when I have holidays coming, holidays next week, yay! So today I have for you one of the newer to me A-England polishes with Briarwood. Briarwood is a burgandy/brown shifting polish with scatter holo. This color is definitely an Autumn color and although I am in denial about summer being over, officially its Autumn, boo :( This is 2 coats of Briarwood with top coat.

Gratuitous final shot of burgandy/red/brown holo goodness

In the shade this polish is a burgandy/maroon shade..and the lovely flashes of red come out in the sun. The holo does come out and play under artificial lighting but makes the polish turn brown, often making this polish look a bit darker than it really is. The sun definitely brings out the best in the polish but it so interesting to wear and the holo does make this so fun :)

Dance Legend Top Prismatic

Hey guys! It's hump day today..and in my last Dance Legend Order I picked up to Top Prismatic which turns any nail polish into a holographic polish. When I had on Chanel Azure I decided to see if adding a holographic top coat added or subtracted to the loveliness of Chanel Azure :) I'll let you decide for yourself.

Well, what do you think? Yay or nay? Chanel Azure on it's own is a bright duochrome polish that shifts from light to mid blue depending on the light. I think the Dance Legend Top Prismatic dulls that duochrome slightly but not in a terrible way.I loved how this added a bit of extra bling to an already awesome polish. I do know that holographic top coats do tend to dull the color of a creme polish and I own another holographic top coat polish that is thicker and does this. The formula for the Dance Legend is awesome as always and you only need a very thin coat to get a bright holo finish which is great. I ordered my Dance Legend Top Prismatic directly from Dance Legend.

Lilypad Lacquer In The Milky Way stamped

Hey guys, I've been home sick this week..the good thing is I think the rest and sleep is helping with whatever is going on :) Downside, you would think I have tons of time to do my nails. Too tired for inspiration! It sucks. Anyways, today I have for you something I wore last week and this is one of those mani's where I really loved it but it wasn't super in your face :) I used Lilypad Lacqer In the Milky Way, China Glaze Millennium stamping and some extra holo on my ring finger with Dance Legend Top Prismatic. To be honest my stamping plates are all over the shop so I used whatever I came across and liked!

Dandelions, Fish scales and houndstooth..random mani! LOL

Okay, so this wasn't the most cohesive of manicure looks..bu I really didn't care, LOL. I love the hounds tooth and Dandelion stamping. Lilypad lacquer In the Milky Way is super pigmented so the holo tends to hide a bit, bit I do really love it, it comes out more scattered in the final finish. I linear holo-ed it up a bit with Dance Legend Top Prismatic :) Hope you liked the mani..I certainly did..love holographics! :)

Sally Hansen Pool Party with Stamping and Glitter

So, yup, I had to fiddle around and made Sally Hansen Pool Party a base for a rocking mani. I also had inspiration from nail mail I received from Drama Queen Nails which included a new stamper, some neon round and square studs and the new Winstonia 2nd Generation stamping plates. Super quick delivery time can I say! So of course I wanted to play with the new studs and stamper. Here is what I came up with.

I did love Sally Hansen Pool Party when she was dressed up a bit more. It was a great base color for the holo topcoat of Girly Bits Hocus Pocus and went well with the glitter gradient, stamping and neon stud I accessorized with! Expect to be seeing a bit more stud action and the new designs of the Winstonia plates. I am going for an Australia Day themed mani for Monday, I have no clue what will happen, so wish me luck! :)
