SIMPLES- Week 3, Ombre- Grey to Black

Hi guys! It's been a little while...life has gotten in the way of blogging. I have been polishing and I'll try and catch up a bit this week with my posts. I am currently trying to stick to a challenge or two. Today I have for you the SIMPLES challenge- Nail Art from Muggle to Mastery, which is a basics nail art onwards created by The Crumpet. You can check out Crumpets post here. This week is week 3 (I have one and two somewhere, erm, yes..let me go find the pics) anyways this is Ombre. Ombre is best described by The Crumpet as "Ombre literally means shadow, in French.  An ombre mani, therefore, is one where the nails move through varying SHADES of the same colour, from light to dark, or dark to light, across the entire hand". Good to know how this differs from gradients!

Since I am trying to do my nails and nail art with my untrieds still, I did a grey to black Ombre today. Now warning pics, with thumbs in it. Not my thing, haven't figured out how to do it gracefully yet so..sorry there.

I threw in a few doozys at the end with this Ombre..a glitter/black and a texture. Not sure it's strictly in the rules, but ya know, it's nails and nail art so why not have a little fun! Catch you in 2 days..I have a day off and hope to sort out the posts lying around on my puter! Mwah xoxo.

Aussie Nails Monday- Lace..and Leather and Curtains!?

Evening chicks, welcome to tonight's quickie..a quick blog post that is ;) I spent the weekend doing a post for a bit later down the track that was super impossible to photograph color-true so I had 4 different attempts at various times of the day with 2 different cameras..it did my head in! I had time to do something for today's Aussie Nails Monday where the theme was Lace. I wanted to make this look tough and to stamp with my new Pueen plates I received in a group buy organised by one of the awesome Aussie Nails chicks.. thanks Nicole! Anyways, my take on this was Leather and Lace, which then turned into Leather and Lace Curtains..take a look!

I framed the middle and ring finger with "curtains"

This was a fun look and it sort of evolved as I did it. I was keen on the leather and lace, but my friend Emma said the stamping looked like old fashioned curtains..and it does! So I added the "curtains" to frame the lace. This it worked best on the black with white stamp I feel and the other was a bit of a fail, but I gave it a go! I really loved Nails Inc Leather effect in Noho, it just so tough looking. I am keen to play around with it a bit more.
Well, this is the end of the quickie...hope your Monday was awesome!

Check out the other awesome Aussie Chicks

Nails Inc Porchester Square with gold stamping

I always thought Nails Inc Porchester Square was a beige-ish polish that would look reasonably light and was in the neutral range of polishes. I was right on only one of those counts..it does look pretty light in the bottle but drys darker, it is definitely a mushroom color and not beige at all, but despite all that it is a neutral polish :) I wore Porchester Square for a day then felt the need to try my Red Angel stamping plates which flopped the last time I used them. This time I chose China Glaze Passion to create a subtle effect, that was slightly shimmer but not in your face :)

This is Ulta3 base coat with 2 coats of Porchester Square, stamped with China Glaze Passion and a top coat of Seche Vite. I used Red Angel plate R108 on my Left hand

The end result reminds me of old fashioned curtains and I love that :) I was a little concerned about how gold China Glaze Passion would turn out, but it looks lovely gold and shimmery on. I am struggling to find time for posts this week as I work 10 hour days and seem to be working everyday this week :( I look forward to be able to play with my polish to my hearts content on Saturday! Hope you liked my curtain looking nails, do you think Porchester works with my skin tone? I am in two minds..
