Indigo Bananas Moonlight (Clair de lune)

Hey guys! Today I have for you something I've been meaning to try for a while, one of the sparkly silver flake polishes that I bought from the awesome Indigo Bananas. Today I have for you Moonlight (Clair de lune). This is a super sparkly silver flake polish which also has micro holo glitters which are super sparkly in the sunlight. This micro glitter shard is in a clear base and builds up quite nicely with a few coats. You could put it over a silver base polish to minimize the layers but I chose to layer this and did 4 coats that dried really quickly. Here is Moonlight with Seche Top Coat, this was super sparkly and hard to catch so I am sure these pics don't do it justice..but I tried! :)

This is a silver version and I also the rose gold version Indigo Bananas A Star to Sail By. I know there is also a similar gold polish by Lacquistry..there can never be enough sparkly awesome polishes out there and I love this silver version. Since I wear alot of white gold and silver jewelry, its right up my alley!

It's Christmas! Christmas Skittles mani :)

Okay, so it finally feels like Christmas for me! I have had my Christmas nails on, have watched one of my first Christmas movies that I always watch at Christmas..Terry Pratchett's The Hogfather and I am finally getting around to wrapping presents, well the 4 presents out of like 20 I only have :)
We have been doing some home improvements..air conditioning, curtains, sheers, window tints to try and get ready for a hot summer....and today is raining but hot..nice summer weather where are you? Christmas day is always hot and sunny in Australia, and I am sure it will pull through this year.

So, here is my Christmas skittle nails I did...a little bit of Christmas on each finger. The first finger is Essence L.O.L with Bundle monster stamping in Essence The Green and the Grunge. The middle finger is KBShimmer Strung Out, Ring finger is Layla Soft Touch Marshmallow Twinkle with dotting in various different colors and the little finger is Essence Fame Fatale with Bundle Monster stamping. My thumb had a green sweater stamping look using Essence The Green and the Grunge with bundle Monster stamping which you can see on my left hand later!

Here is my left hand which used the same skittles colors but my first finger with the Essence  and Bundle Monster stamping.

Left hand- first finger has Essence The green and the grunge with Bundle monster stamping in Essence Icy Princess. Yay! Another nice stamping silver. Love how this tree came out :)

Now I had no sun to take these photos in, but I still think these look pretty and christmassy. People commented on the lime green nail with the tree and the sweater look dark green nail. My personal fav is the red Santa hat nail and the KBShimmer Strung Out! LOL.
Hope you are having a great weekend and not too must last minute Xmas shopping like I have to do!

Black, Gold and Silver striping manicure

Hey hey, I was feeling productive today, but that's waning off. Was meant to have to carpets steam cleaned but that didn't go off as planned. But that's okay, got a quote on air conditioning for our upstairs bedroom and caught the gardener to come an fix our dismal back yard (erm, outta control weeds anyone!). So I am feeling slightly happier that I am getting stuff done.
Today I have an idea taken from the Aussie Nails Monday chicks..which was a mani with gold, silver, white or black using Aussie Indie polishes. I do have quite a few Aussie Indi Polishes but it was late in the day so I just used the theme with any old polishes I could easily put my hands on! Here is the end result.

OPI Goldeneye, OPI Bond, James Bond, China Glaze Cosmic Dust and Savvy Starburst striping manicure
For this look I painted a coat of MUD Dark Room, waited for it to dry and applied striping tape in patterns. I then sponged over the top in gold with OPI Goldeneye and Bond, James Bond and silver colors of China Glaze Cosmic Dust and Savvy Starburst.

This look was particularly sparkly but difficult to catch all the different characteristics of each polish. There was holographic, sparkly, large glass flecks all thrown in there. I am sure I could have randomized my striping a bit more but I just can't help myself, I like them to look the same!

It's hot here today I might put on a holo and catch a some sun and rainbows..see you soon!

KKCenterhk Review- Silver Little Circle Hidden Nail Foils

Hello all! Today I have for you another review for a product sent to my by KKcenterhk which has a whole world of nail art and beauty products. I was particularly excited to receive a holographic silver nail foil to try. My product was Silver Little Circle Hidden Nail Foil Transfer with glue, which can be found here. Below is the look I created :)

So, what came in my package was the nail foil in a cute plastic container and glue:

A pretty large roll of foil, with awesome holographic circle.

I painted my nails with a silver holo polish, then applied the glue until it disappeared

I then placed the foil on my finger and pressed down gently.

When I lifted the foil gently, the foil stayed on the nail clear plastic remained.

I did the same thing with my thumb, put glue only on the tip of my first finger

Glued half my middle finger and a chevron on my ring finger

This was enough foil paper to do all my fingers!

This was the final result

KKcenterhk Holographic Nail Foils

This was my first attempt at using nail foils and I was pretty happy with how it came out. My application was not wrinkle free, but it really wasn't that noticeable. The pattern was lovely and holographic and I found that the glue dried quickly and it held the foil down well. I didn't add a top coat as I have heard this adds more wrinkles. I will be definitely having another at nail foils as I really liked the effect of the foil and I want to get my technique down so they are smooth and blingy!

My product was Silver Little Circle Hidden Nail Foil Transfer and comes with a total of 150cm of nail foil for $7.96 without the glue, or $12 with the glue. The glue isn't strictly necessary but it's handy as you can paint it on easily and there is a 10% discount for my blog readers if you want to buy some nail foils or other products from KKcenterhk. Just use the unique coupon code of "blingnails" and the coupon is valid until Jan 31st 2014.

*note this product was sent to me by review but has not influenced my opinion of the product.

OPI Black Spotted over Layla Metal Chrome

Hey All! Tonight I have a post for you with a special polish. Well, to me most polishes are special in their own way :) This one is a cousin of the shatter polishes and a part of the European OPI Spiderman collection- it's called Black Spotted. For those of the polish world you all know of Black Spotted. Love it, hate it, not sure about it. I have been through all those phases. I knew I had to have it though to give it a chance in person... it's how I roll :)  So onto ebay I went as I have no European connections in da polish blogging world (me the newbish blogger) and last week my OPI Black Spotted arrived :) Here is my first attempt at Black Spotted..onto the photo spam!

OPI Black Spotted and Layla Metal Chrome
OPI Black Spotted, yes..I dipped my fingers in oil!

What did I use?:  Ulta 3 Base Coat
Layla Metal Chrome - 1 Coat
                                             OPI Black Spotted- I Coat
                                   Seche Vite Top Coat

So, do my nails look the picture with the instructions?
OPI Black Spotted and Layla Metal Chrome
I'll let you decide..

Thoughts on Black Spotted, do I love it, YES! It's awesome in an oily looking kind of way...it's so interesting. I was going for a blingy through the darkness look but I feel that because the Black Spotted doesn't "shatter" cleanly I got a bit of bronzish discoloration in the holes. I also think the size of the spottedness holes depends on the polish and as I had a majority of small ones I attribute this to the consistency of the Layla Metal Chrome. I can't wait to try this again over a few different polishes and see the results!

Love, meh or hate?

TopShop Hypnotic

Topshop has some lovely polishes, I've decided. After seeing how holo and purty Ice Crush was,I thought I would pull out Topshop Nails Hypnotic. Hypnotic looks like a silver oil slick in the bottle..with a pink tinge to it.Topshop's blurb states that this color is multitonal and after seeing the bottle, I wanted to see if the multitonal colors came alive when wearing it :)

This is what Hypnotic looks like with a flash! Very silver.

Sorry about the pics galore, but the duochrome is so hard to photograph, like most duochromes :) This one is subtle but something different from having just a straight silver polish. I really loved this color, the little bits of glitter in it don't make it gritty as a finish and you can see the formula is a bit tricky and can streak a bit but a topcoat would smooth it out. Topshop states that this color is multitonal, and I'd buy that blurb with the dark silver, light silver and pink tinges.

Hope your weekend is going great. I'm struggling a little with life issues, including my workplace in which some people are small minded. Makes me want to quit and paint nails for a living! I also saw Snow White and the Huntsman today, which I quite liked :) It was a pretty engaging movie and quite dark as it was based on the Grimm Brothers version of the fairytale. There was only one part I was a little disappointed in, but I won't say so you can make up your own minds.

Ulta3 Blue Marlin and Lynnderella Bride of Franken with stamping

So, here is an evolving mani that I did over a few days...just wanted to show you how I recycled the mani as it wore/I got bored with it over 2 day (geez, it felt like a week!) Blue sounded good so I grabbed a shiny bottle of Ulta3's Blue Marlin. I didn't take a photo of the base as I was just playing around. But here is a bottle pic.

How it looked in the sunlight :) I did the french tip with Ozotic 509

I stamped all the designs with MASH plates :) I really like the left thumb which is ninja stars. I also like how Blue Marlin changes in intensity depending oh the light! I am impressed with how the MASH plates stamp, they are pretty easy to use. I used Ulta3 base coat and Seche Vite for the top coat. In the last pic you can see a little nail tip wear but that can be masked by the stamping and/or adding a french tip. This has the extra bonus of extending the mani :)
Trying to decide on the next color..dark or light? Neon or shimmery..I can't decide! :)
